Ducey's On The Lake

A longtime Bass Lake establishment that offers its patrons a photo worthy view as they choose from a variety of steak, seafood and pastas on the dining menu. Prices are slightly higher, however, you are paying for an amazing view, amazing service, and really amazing quality food!

The historic Bass Lake Lodge was built in the early 1940s, and became a well-known fixture on the lake. However, a kitchen fire burned down the original lodge in 1988 and it took three years for it to be rebuilt. The opening of the new lodge, Ducey’s On the Lake, was celebrated by a ceremonial dance from the Mono Indians, who have lived in this area for many years.

You can find dinner and breakfast options at this restaurant located on the first floor of the lodge.

As always, remember to follow for more locations, travel tips and deals, and of course amazing eats!

Food Please!

If you are in the Bass Lake area of California, or staying at The Pines Resort and want a super amazing bite to eat, a great drink, wonderful service, and a picturesque view, you have got to go to Ducey's Bar and Grill!

Located on the second floor above Ducey's On The Lake, this great little area accommodates singles, couples, and families alike!

And let me just say, the food is AMAZING! You will be filled up by the time you leave and you will probably have a camera full of photos!

From quality to presentation to service, you just cannot go wrong at Ducey's Bar and Grill!

Side Note: Buy the pretzel! IT IS HUGE! But you will love it!

Relax, Refresh, Unwind

Never have I ever been to a resort on the lake that triggers all of the senses and brings back such an amazing sense of nostalgia like The Pines Resort at Bass Lake in California!

This resort literally has it all!

From beautiful, clean, and comfortable rooms to customer service like no other! Literally the staff was beyond amazing and did everything to make each guest feel like family!

Plus they have a small town so you have EVERYTHING you need! It's amazing!

And how can you NOT fall in love waking up to lake views?!?

Our stay in a a spa suite allowed us the opportunity to unwind and get back to nature as well as experience time together as a couple. It was beyond amazing!

Here are some tidbits about The Pines Resort for when you stay!

  • There are bears on property. Uncaged. Wild. So, respect their space and they won't bother you.
  • Since there are bears on property, do NOT leave food in your vehicle unless you actually want them to try to get in. Just sayin.
  • There are also an abundance of other wildlife in the area. We saw foxes, raccoons, bald eagles, plenty of fish, and the usual squirrels and crows. Again, respect their space and try not to feed them. Seriously.
  • Bring hiking shoes! You are staying at the front door of Yosemite National Park! Explore it and take in the beauty that pictures could never fully convey!
  • Explore the town! There is a plethora of shops and you WILL buy the humongous chocolate peanut butter cups!
  • Talk to the staff! They have so much knowledge of the area and can tell you about off the beaten path locations you will definitely want to see!

This is an amazing resort with so much to offer! 3 nights was not enough! We will absolutely be back soon!

A GRAND Adventure!

“I can still remember my first experience of standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon and looking into it. It was so awesome, it took a fair amount of restraint to prevent me from jumping into it, because I was certain I could fly.”

- Mark Gouston

The Grand Canyon is a true wonder of the world. This incredible landscape, carved by the Colorado River through incredible red Navajo Sandstone is a sight to behold. Whether you take it in from the viewpoints at the rim, or from the trails along the valley floor, this is one of those places you have to see at least once in your life!

I have personally been once before, but knew I had to share it with my husband. Seeing it through his eyes was an experience like no other!

Here are some tips for traveling to the canyon that can make your trip more enjoyable!

  1. Wear hiking shoes. Even if you are NOT planning to hike, you are in a National Park with dirt and rock terrain. Shoes with grip are a must!
  2. Bring water. There are several shops throughout the park that offer drinks and snacks, but its always good to be prepared in case those stores are not open.
  3. Keep up to date on weather conditions. I cannot stress enough how important it is to know what weather conditions are like in the locations you are visiting. Located at an elevation of over 6800 feet, weather conditions can change quickly. Be prepared for it by knowing what those conditions will be before you go.
  4. Fuel up before you enter the park. You will drive some distance and don't want to run out of fuel while in the park.
  5. RESPECT THE PARK! You are entering an area sacred to the Native Americans and need to remember that. Throw trash away in the proper receptacles and pack your belongings when leaving.
  6. The wildlife are NOT pets. Do not feed them and that cute fuzzy animal will most likely bite you. Respect their space.

Follow these tips and leave a comment below if you have any tips of your own!

Planning A Roadtrip For Couples

In this day and age, POST pandemic, more and more people are choosing to see the beauty of the United States via car versus air.

So to help alleviate the stressors that can happen, here are a few planning tips!

1) Plan your route ahead of time. This time honored tradition will help you know locations along your way.

2) Check Weather Conditions. I cannot stress enough how important this is! It's as easy as pulling up your weather app on your phone and entering in key locations you will be going through before you get there.

3) Keep Up To Date On Road Work! We already deal with highway construction on a daily and we know how frustrating that is. The last thing you want to do is deal with it on vacation. So check in with the DOTs on your route and plan your course around any major road work projects.

4) BE TIME FLEXIBLE! Set aside extra hours for your trip in the event of weather issues, road delays, and additional sightseeing detours.

5) Venture Off Of The Beaten Path. HAVE FUN! You are on vacation! Your destination isn't the ONLY thing that matters! Take time to explore and take in the beauty of areas you are passing through!

6) Pack Snacks. Let's face it. We love snacks! Pack items that will nourish you and help you not spend more than your budget allows. Plus it can keep BOTH of you from getting hangry!

7) Be Prepared For ANYTHING! Life happens whether you are on the road or not. So make sure you have blankets, pillows, and emergency supplies and tools JUST IN CASE!
